You never know how strong you are...until being strong is the only choice you have

When I discovered the unknown lump in my left breast, I knew something was wrong I had a feeling that it was cancer, I tried not to think that it was not but I can’t lie to myself like that. I didn’t know much about breast cancer, until I was assigned to prepare a persuasive speech in front of my speech class. I decided on breast cancer, I didn’t know much about it anyway and did my research. I didn’t have to prepare much or write an outline. I managed to dig deep and talked to the class unscripted. I somehow tied it all to what I was going through from the discovery of the lump and doctor visits to the fact that you or someone you know has been effected by cancer and I am one of them. Even though I didn’t know for sure at the time if I had it or not but I felt that I did. My cheeks trembled fighting back tears and that deep pain in my chest as I talked about my personal life with strangers for the first time it was scary but good it was practice for breaking the news down for my family and friends... after class one of the students came up to me and said I’ll be here for you if you need me... I was so touched by her and to confirmed I am not alone in this journey. As with many people who experience cancer, we’ve all been told we have 5 years to live with stage IV terminal cancer and there’s nothing we can do for you after conventional treatment fails. BUT I believe there IS! There are people out there who live beyond the statistics and have turn over to alternatives to fight cancer for good. That means changing your diet, eating natural foods that keep you alive, have a positive attitude, surround yourself with positive people, and following a spiritual path. I believe healing and restoring my health better than it was before. I pray every day for this cancer to go away. I am able to live normally have the strength to live on with a purpose and believing I am healed!

Tough choices ahead...

Earlier this morning I got a call from the Onco in class and stepped out to answer...

Your blood work came back positive for high estrogen levels.

You have two options:

1. Extra dose of Lupron:shut down the ovaries and stop them from producing estrogen so there is less estrogen to fuel the growth of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer.
2. Remove Ovaries

I dropped a few tears for a second before going back into class. Prayed and have been pretty good the rest of the day and this evening.

I still need to call him back and discuss this. Also I think it might be a scare? Because I didn't get the Lupron shot in September! I will have to let him know and see if it matters and do the test again seriously.

As you all know I want to preserve my ovaries, but if removing them will save my life and I can always adopt. I still believe in natural healing...

Cancer go kill Cancer, not me and other womenz and menz! UGH!

October Updates!

Time is flying by so fast! I cannot believe it! Almost 2 years ago I found a lump in my breast on Halloween eve, but was not diagnosed until December 2010. Yay to another year celebrating life and better healthy life choices. It has been a struggle! Battling with food I love to eat. :P

This year I celebrated my birthday at the Tower of Americas in San Antonio, the only place on top of the city I can watch the sunset and enjoyed an evening at First Friday down in the art district of King Williams with Marcy and also met with old friend I went to  high school with in Alaska, what a small world!

Cindy's Pink Ninja's & Sonic held a fundraiser for me to raise money for my Alternative treatment! Very blessed to have Cindy and the UTSA football Couch & TE players to help out that day, and customers! We raised about 2 grand. Yay!

After the birthday weekend I went in for treatment at CTRC, same news as always body is responding well to treatment. Now I can go in once a month for Lupron and once every 3 months for Zometa, and daily Arimidex orally. I didn't go in for treatment for September though, never got a call to go in for Lupron which stops estrogen & menstrual cycle, that feeds the tumor. YIKES! Which might explain the bleeding I had the following day. I did call the oncologist about it, but he did not have an answer for me, told me to go in to get my blood tested for hormone levels. Haven't heard back from him. Should I be concerned? I need to find a gyno to get my stuff checked and make sure nothings wrong in there. Tumor marker levels same is 114 from the last results of 111.

My bff and friends in San Diego will be hosting a Eat for a Cure fundraiser at Issara Thai Restaurant at Liberty Station. Please share with friends and family about the event! Amy's awesome mom will be donating 25% of the proceeds to the campaign on indiegogo! WoooHOoooo!!!
